While working in my yard today, I kept thinking about JD and how he could make anyone feel special. He knew I was a country girl — so he made a point to make sure to compliment my first yellow blooms from my snapdragons in spring, commented on what a good crop of tomatoes I could grow even in the “city”, and how my country ham and potato salad was the best (like his wife used to make). He would save me a peach from his yard and confirm my tree was a sweet bay magnolia. I choose to celebrate his life even though I miss my friend. And by the way, JD, I saw my first green in my snapdragons today And my daffodils are coming up nicely. ❤️

Kathy - he always spoke so fondly of you, and your country girl values. A kindred spirit. He loved that so many of our neighbors had eastern Kentucky roots. He loved his home, his porch and all of his neighbors. Community and friendship are so important in our lives... something he understood.
